July is Social Wellness Month and it\u2019s a fantastic time for seniors to focus on their social life and how it impacts their mental health. Loneliness among seniors is reaching epidemic levels, and many health professionals are concerned about the impact of loneliness on seniors. Seniors that are aging in place may have to put in a little extra effort to stay connected to their friends and family and help their mental health. Seniors who have strong friendships and social relationships have a lower risk of developing depression, heart disease, and other health problems.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy to understand why seniors become disconnected from old friends. Over the years work and family responsibilities make it difficult to put in the time necessary to maintain solid friendships. But there are some things that seniors who are living independently can do to reconnect with old friends like:<\/p>\n

Reach Out On Social Media<\/h3>\n

Social media is a great way to reconnect with friends after a long period apart.
