\u201cI ask them questions like, \u2018What was your job like?\u2019 or \u2018How did you meet your spouse?\u2019 Even simple things like asking if they watch sports\u2014it helps them open up and feel seen.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

She also uses her surroundings as a conversation starter, paying attention to photos, keepsakes, or books that might reveal a new path to connection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Overcoming Challenges with Support and Teamwork<\/b><\/h3>\n

As a newer care partner, Emily admits one of her challenges is <\/span>finding new ways to connect<\/b> with clients who are more reserved. But she knows she\u2019s not alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I\u2019m not sure how to connect, I call into the office and ask for pointers. Sometimes someone knows a hobby or interest the client has that I can use to start a conversation.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
