How Being Lonely Can Impact Your Mom’s Health
Having in-home care can help reduce the risk that your mom will suffer loneliness and from health problems like these…
Is your elderly loved one feeling a bit off since the COVID-19 pandemic began? This might be due to the fact that they haven’t seen anyone except for their elderly care providers for a while due to the social distancing and/or stay-at-home order. However, you don’t need to worry. There are some tips that can help your elderly loved one to bring happiness back into their life, even while the COVID-19 pandemic is still active.
Sending Mail
Your elderly loved one would probably love to get a hand-written letter from you and other family members. Handmake a card and write a note for your loved one. Send it to them in the mail with a stamp and all. This could make your loved one’s day more than you know. It will show them you are truly thinking of them.
Utilize Delivery Services
You can share a meal with your elderly loved one during this time. How is that possible when you can’t see them face-to-face? You can order something they enjoy through GrubHub or another food delivery service and order yourself something, as well. You can then call them and have a conversation while you are both eating.
Start a Facebook Book Club
If your elderly loved one enjoys reading, it would be a great idea to start a Facebook book club. You could set up a schedule so that you and your elderly loved one, and maybe others, can read the book at the same time. Then, once a week or once every other week (more if you want), you all can have a virtual book club. This way you can all see each other and discuss what you loved and didn’t like about the book. You could do this by watching the same television show, as well.
Jigsaw Puzzle
Has your elderly loved one enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles in the past? If so, maybe you can order them a new one and have it shipped to their home. If they have difficulties with puzzles, you can get them a small one. If they love the difficult puzzles you can order them a huge puzzle.
Create a Hobby Package
If you want to put a smile on your elderly loved one’s face during this time, it might be helpful to create a hobby package and send it to them. Does your elderly loved one enjoy crocheting? Order some yarn online and have it sent to them. Does your elderly loved one enjoy painting? Order some canvas and paint and send it to your loved one’s home.
These are some of the many ways that you can keep your elderly loved one happy during the COVID-19 pandemic. Start having them do at least one of these things today.
