Seniors who are living with Alzheimer’s Disease can usually stay in their homes for a long period of time with some senior home care help. Senior home care is a way for seniors who have Alzheimer’s and their families worry less. When your senior parent with Alzheimer’s has home care visits on a regular basis that care can solve a lot of the problems that make it difficult for seniors to stay at home.
One of the biggest concerns that the families of seniors with Alzheimer’s have is that their senior parent won’t take their medication or will mix up their medications if they are living on their own. Senior home care can include medication management by a professional. With a customized medication plan designed just for your senior loved one’s needs you can rest easy knowing your senior loved one is getting their medication on time every day. And as your loved one’s needs change their medication management can change too.
Seniors living at home with Alzheimer’s need a little extra help with home safety. To ensure that they don’t leave the house when they’re confused, leave the water running, or leave the stove on it’s usually necessary for them to have some help. When your senior loved one has senior home care, the care provider will assess your senior loved one’s current level of need and help make sure that your senior loved one is safe and protected at home. With home care, visits from you, and security cameras that you can access through an app on your phone your senior loved one can live safely at home.
Often seniors who have Alzheimer’s need help with housecleaning and housework. Laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and other chores are necessary to keep the house tidy, sanitary, and safe. Care providers can help with chores that have become too difficult for senior loved one. They can also track which chores need to be done so that cleaning is getting done on a regular basis. Doing routine cleaning will also help a care provider identify any potential problems with the house that need to be addressed like cracks in the floor or leaks in the bathroom sink that your senior loved one may not notice.
Often seniors with Alzheimer’s don’t eat as much as they should or eat the foods that they should eat. Cooking can be difficult for them, and sometimes it can be dangerous. A care provider can prepare meals in advance, portion them, and put them in the refrigerator or freezer so that they are ready to eat. All your senior loved one will need to do is heat them up to get a delicious healthy meal or a fun snack. With senior home care you can be sure that your senior loved one is getting the nutrition they need to stay healthy.
