Frequently Asked Questions
Touching Hearts at Home of Rochester is redefining the meaning of heartfelt care through consistency, companionship, and compassion. Our non-medical, in-home care uses the meaningful impact of relationships to serve those closest to you with the help they need to live comfortably and confidently from home.
Can you provide long-term in-home care?
Absolutely. Many families rely on us for ongoing, long-term support tailored to individual routines, preferences, and changing care needs. Our services are designed to grow and adapt alongside our clients. *Ask us about our Live-In Care Program.*
How quickly can my loved one be connected to care?
We understand that timing matters. We act with urgency and work to connect clients to care as quickly as possible — often within 24 hours, depending on needs and availability. Our team partners closely with families to meet the timeframe that works best for them.
How do I start the conversation about home care with my loved one?
You don’t have to convince your loved one — and you don’t have to do this alone. These conversations can be emotional and complex. We’re happy to come out, meet with you and your loved one, answer questions, and help guide the discussion in a supportive, respectful way.
What kind of dementia training do your caregivers receive?
All caregivers receive dementia-specific training before working directly with clients. Training continues through ongoing virtual sessions, in-person education, and community-based learning opportunities. We recognize that every person living with dementia is unique, which is why we also provide one-on-one coaching to caregivers when supporting individuals with dementia.
Are you hiring caregivers?
Yes! We are always interested in connecting with compassionate, dependable individuals who want to make a meaningful difference in their local community.
How do I know if I’m a good fit to work for Touching Hearts at Home?
If you are caring, reliable, and passionate about supporting others, you may be a wonderful fit. Our caregivers live out our core values of Communication, Consideration, Compassion, and Commitment in everything they do.
Do you provide caregiver training?
Yes. We offer continual training, dementia-focused education, one-on-one coaching, and ongoing field support to ensure our caregivers feel confident, supported, and prepared.
How does Touching Hearts at Home support my personal and professional growth?
We value growth from within. Caregivers are supported in their personal and professional development and may advance into roles such as trainer, mentor, or coordinator as opportunities arise.
Is there a minimum number of care hours required?
Yes. The minimum hours are 16 hours per week, typically in 4-hour increments. This helps ensure consistency and meaningful care for our clients!
How do I pay for in-home care?
Our services are private pay. We assist clients who have long-term care insurance by helping them access benefits and submit claims. We also continuously explore local opportunities — such as caregiver respite grants or county funding — that may help offset the cost of care.
How do I get started or request pricing?
Simply reach out by phone or through our website. We’ll schedule a complimentary in-home or virtual consultation to discuss your needs and help get services started as quickly as possible.
Does insurance cover in-home care?
Many long-term care insurance policies do cover non-medical in-home care, and we assist with claim forms and required documentation. At this time, Medicare does not cover non-medical home care, and we do not accept Medicaid. We continue to monitor state and federal policy changes that may impact coverage in the future.
