The Heart Behind the Care: Meet Kelly George, Owner of Touching Hearts at Home Dayton & Springfield

When families begin searching for in-home care for older adults in Dayton, Springfield, and the surrounding communities, they are often looking for more than a service. They are looking for someone they can trust with the well-being of the people they love most.

For Kelly George, owner of Touching Hearts at Home of Dayton and Springfield, that trust is something she understands deeply. Her journey into the world of non-medical home care and companionship services did not begin as a business plan. It began as a personal calling.

Rooted in the Dayton Community

Kelly grew up in Oakwood and Kettering, graduating from Fairmont High School before attending Wright State University, where she earned a degree in Sociology. Early in her career, she spent more than a decade in business management, including leadership roles in retail branch management with Bank One in Dayton and PNC Bank in Centerville and Cincinnati.

While her professional background was rooted in leadership and operations, Kelly always felt most fulfilled when working with people and serving her community.

During the years she was raising her children, Kelly dedicated much of her time to volunteering in local schools. She served on the PTO Executive Board at Stingley Elementary and spent time tutoring students in Dayton Public Schools. Helping others succeed and supporting families became a natural part of her daily life.

A Personal Experience That Changed Everything

Like many families, Kelly eventually experienced firsthand the emotional and practical challenges that come with aging. Watching loved ones navigate conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease gave her a deeper understanding of how complicated and overwhelming the aging journey can be for both individuals and their families.

Questions arise quickly.
How can someone remain safe at home?
Who can provide support with daily routines?
How do families balance independence with safety?

Kelly saw how meaningful it was when older adults could remain in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by familiar routines and memories. She also saw how much families needed reliable support along the way.

That experience sparked a passion that would shape the rest of her career.

Building a Mission Around Aging with Dignity

Kelly chose to dedicate her work to helping older adults age in place safely, comfortably, and with dignity. That commitment eventually led her to open Touching Hearts at Home in Dayton and Springfield.

Today, the organization provides non-medical home care, companionship, and personalized support for older adults throughout Montgomery County, Greene County, and Clark County.

But for Kelly, it has never been just about providing services. It is about relationships.

Every family has a unique story. Every older adult deserves to feel respected, valued, and supported. Kelly built Touching Hearts at Home around those principles.

A Lifelong Commitment to Advocacy and Education

Kelly’s dedication to older adults extends well beyond her role as a business owner. Over the years, she has been actively involved in advocacy and education across the region.

She has volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association of the Miami Valley, supported Montgomery County’s C.A.A.N.E. (Collaboration Against Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation) multidisciplinary team, and participated in community service through the Centerville Noon Optimist Club.

Kelly has also pursued extensive professional training so she can better support families navigating complex aging situations. She holds several specialized credentials, including:

Certified Dementia Practitioner®
Certified Senior Advisor®
Certified Case Manager (CCM®)
Aging Life Care Professional®

She is also a member of the Aging Life Care Association, a professional organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults and their families.

A Team Built on Compassion

Kelly often says that while she may have started the journey, the true heart of Touching Hearts at Home is the team that serves families every day.

The Care Partners, care managers, and support staff who work with older adults throughout the Dayton and Springfield communities share the same values that inspired Kelly to start the organization in the first place: compassion, patience, and genuine human connection.

Together, they help older adults maintain independence while providing families with peace of mind.

A Life of Family and Purpose

Today, Kelly lives in Washington Township with her husband Mike. While she remains involved in the daily operations of Touching Hearts at Home, she also enjoys traveling and spending time with their four adult children, who live in Dayton and Cleveland.

Even with a busy life, the mission remains the same as it was from the beginning.

Helping families navigate the aging journey.
Supporting older adults in the place they feel most comfortable.
And making sure no family has to walk that path alone.

For Kelly, providing care has never just been a profession.

It has always been personal.
