Happy Holidays From Touching Hearts at Home!
As the holiday season fills the air with joy and gratitude, we want to take a moment to thank you…
Elder care services help your dad maintain his independence as he ages at home. You worry about him living alone, but you’re not close enough to visit more than a few times a year. What are the different services that are offered?
Your dad has never cooked for himself. With a caregiver’s help, he can plan a weekly menu, build a shopping list, and have a caregiver available to prepare home-cooked meals for him. He’ll eat well and never have to rely on takeout or frozen dinners.
Has your dad missed appointments because he forgot about them? Has he shown up late? Are you in another state or country and unable to get him to and from his appointments? There’s an easy solution.
If he’s having a hard time keeping track of his appointments or arranging transportation to them, a caregiver can help. He’ll have a ride and a caregiver to remind him when it’s time to leave the home so that he doesn’t arrive late.
Your dad lives alone and visits from his kids and grandkids are not as frequent as he’d like. If he’s experiencing loneliness and isolation, a caregiver can help. His caregiver is there to help out, but it’s just as important that he has someone to talk to, join on outings, and share his favorite hobbies or movies with.
Personal care covers grooming and hygiene. If your dad is starting to have a harder time keeping up with nail care, shaving, or oral care, elder care aides can help him. If he cannot decide what clothes are appropriate for the day’s weather, his caregiver will help him.
Caregivers can help your dad button his shirts and pants, tie laces on his shoes, and zip his coat. They can also help him get showered, dried off, and make sure his skin is moisturized.
Your dad can do some chores around his home, but others are too much work. He can’t push the heavy vacuum anymore, or carry the laundry to the laundry room. He cannot change his sheets or make his bed with clean ones.
Elder care aides can wash dishes, sanitize surfaces, sweep hard floors, and tidy up the pillows on a sofa. They can help your dad put away groceries, clean out expired foods from his refrigerator, and take out the trash and recycling when necessary.
Jot down a list of your questions and call our elder care agency. A specialist will answer your questions, talk in-depth about the availability of services in your dad’s town, and arrange the services he needs. Learn more about elder care by making a call.
