A Lifetime of Music, A Legacy of Inspiration
Some talents have the power to brighten every room they enter, and one of our newest clients has already done just that. In a short time, she has impressed our staff with her incredible musical abilities and her lifelong dedication to the harp and piano.
Her musical journey began in childhood when she received a harp from Clark Music in Syracuse, New York. Under the instruction of Carolyn Clark, both she and her sister studied the harp for many years, continuing their lessons all the way through college. Those early experiences laid the foundation for what would become a lifelong passion.
While attending Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, a Christmas concert in New York City sparked an even deeper appreciation for music and performance. That passion, combined with her talent and dedication, soon opened new opportunities. During her sophomore year, she was approached by the conductor of the Scranton Philharmonic and invited to perform with the orchestra. She was even selected to perform a solo piece, a memorable honor for any musician.
After earning her master’s degree, she returned to Syracuse and continued sharing her love of music with others. She organized a group of Syracuse University students who gathered every Friday evening to perform at the Hotel Syracuse. The musicians became known as the Lyons Harp Ensemble and were invited to perform before the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Her connection to that tradition remains strong today. She continues to perform for Mass every St. Patrick’s Day, sharing her gift with the community year after year.
Music remains an important part of her daily life. Whether playing the harp or piano at her independent living community, she brings joy to our caregiving staff. Her performances are a wonderful reminder that passion, talent, and creativity can continue to flourish at every stage of life.
We are grateful to know such an accomplished musician and are inspired by the way she continues to share her love of music with everyone around her. Her story is proof that when we nurture our gifts and follow our passions, they can create a lasting impact for generations. 🎶💜
