Last week Touching Hearts hosted its Spring 2022 Caregiver Meeting and Spirit Day! It was one for the books!
As with all meetings, they opened with a reading of the company’s mission:
“Our goal is for Touching Hearts to be the premier provider of home care throughout Middle Tennessee. We are committed to building a successful business while serving others.”
“Our commitment to our Caregivers is to provide a strong foundation of support through communication, education, and appreciation. We value the people we serve and those who serve alongside us.”
Cheryl Blanchard, LMSW, CCM joined the meeting for a special training in Dementia Redirection. She is a Certified Dementia Care Specialist and the Middle Tennessee Regional Director for Alzheimer’s Tennessee. She also invited the Caregivers and Office Staff to participate in the Williamson County Walk to Make Alzheimer’s a Memory 2022 on Saturday, May 14th!
A large part of redirecting someone with Dementia includes proving purposeful activities for the person to participate in. Haley Johnson, Owner, shared ideas the Caregivers could use to build a traveling activity kit for their clients and/or other activities they could do together. Each Caregiver went home with a coloring book or word search to begin their activity kit and to share in the fun with their clients!
During the meeting, Caregivers were recognized for their Year of Service Anniversaries, Caregivers of the Month, and Superlatives. In light of our Spirit Day, there were an abundance of purple snacks, photo booth props, and giveaways! Lead Caregiver, Kelly Leftwich, even handmade purple pompoms to share! They concluded with a raffle of Touching Hearts gear, a full activity kit, and VISA and restaurant gift cards. The photo booth was a new addition and a big hit with everyone as well!
Touching Hearts at Home of Middle Tennessee hosts 3 Caregiver Meetings each year to provide additional training, a sense of community, and to love on the Caregivers who provide such outstanding care to their clients.
We can’t wait for the next one in August!
