Ways Companion Care at Home Helps Seniors to Avoid Falls

Caregivers at Touching Hearts at Home receive ongoing training to enhance their skills and ensure they are well prepared to take care of our seniors. Today, several of our Caregivers participated in a Gait Belt Training. Gait Belts can be used to help raise a care recipient without straining the back. It allows a Caregiver to help stabilize a care recipient who loses his or her balance while walking. The belt acts as a handle that allows a Caregiver to easily grasp onto the belt and stabilize the care recipient. Proper use of a Gait Belt goes a long way towards ensuring safety for both the Caregiver and client. Upon completion of the Gait Belt training today, Caregivers were given a certificate of completion and a pin to go on their lanyards. Ongoing training is one of the commitments we make to our Caregivers. We value the people we serve and those who serve alongside us.
