Caregivers Participate in Gait Belt Training

Touching Hearts at Home recognizes the importance of ensuring Caregivers are trained appropriately. All new hires are required to attend training upon hire. However, Caregivers are also given the opportunity to receive additional training as needed. Teresa Wade, Trainer, led a group of our Caregivers in a Gait Belt training today.

A Gait Belt is an assistive device which can be used to help safely transfer a person from a bed to wheelchair, assist with sitting and standing, and help with walking around. It is secured around the waist to allow a Caregiver to grasp the belt to assist in lifting or moving a person.

Many of our clients require assistance with transfers, so the additional Gait Belt training comes in really helpful for those Caregivers that want additional training. Other examples of training include: Hospice Care, Fall Prevention, Incontinent Care, and Bathing & Grooming. We understand that knowledge is power and want our Caregivers to feel well prepared to take good care of each client.
